Plan your next race with precision
A pace calculator is used to determine how fast you need to run to achieve a specific finish time. It helps runners manage their energy and stay on track during training or race day.
Pace = Total Time / Distance
For most beginners, a pace of 9 to 12 minutes per mile (5:30 to 7:30 per kilometer) is a common starting point. As fitness improves, this pace naturally decreases.
Divide your total finish time by the distance of the race. For example, if you run a 5K (3.1 miles) in 31 minutes, your pace is 10 minutes per mile.
Speed is distance divided by time (e.g., 6 miles per hour). Pace is time divided by distance (e.g., 10 minutes per mile). Runners usually prefer pace as it is easier to track on a watch.
